WALKING IN LOVE

Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

Walking in love with believers is a requirement for living a holy life. It is easy to say you love others, but it’s more difficult to demonstrate it. Once a lady went to a restaurant that had some tables near the sidewalk. As she was sipping her tea, she noticed a very lovely fragrance in the air. When the waitress came by she asked her where the aroma was coming from. She was told that the workers at the perfume factory had just left for the day, and were passing the restaurant. Their clothes were saturated with the perfume odors, and the wind blew the scent their way. Brotherly love will radiate from you, or the opposite will be evident as well. You’re the one that makes the choice by what you feed into your spirit, because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Prayer Thought

Be humble - don’t center your life on you! Be first God-centered, then others-centered. Be gentle - that’s power under God’s control - strength channeled. When things get out of control, you don’t.

PURIFYING YOURSELF

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself,just as He is pure.

As a Child of God you have a great promise, of the day that will come when you will be like Him, and will see the Lord as He is. God has given you the obligation to purify yourself if you want to see the fulfilment of this promise. He has given you a new nature, as well as the ability to say NO to temptation. John 15:3 points out that you are cleansed because of the Word. This will not take place if you keep your Bible on a shelf, but will only happen if you read and apply it. Learn to love to read your Bible; ask the Lord to enable you to understand and apply it. This will cause ou to become a strong Christian.

Prayer Thought

Pray that God will create in you such an all-consuming hunger to know Him in a greater way, and to long to follow Him. All He wants and needs is a hungry willing heart.

GUARDING YOUR WORDS

Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to doexceedingly abundantlyabove all that we ask or think,according to the power that works in us.                 

The spirit world is controlled by the power of God that is released through the Word of God. The natural worldis to be controlled by man through the power of God,and is done by quoting God’s promises in the Bible. These spoken words become creative power, because God’s power is already at work in you. In Proverbs 6:2 Solomon tells you that you become trapped by the words of your mouth. Your words become tools to allow the power of God to flow through you which will workfor oragainstyou, depending on what you say. Negative words which contradict the promises of God, cause His power to produce the things you don’t want in your life. Guard your words so that you say what you want, instead of what you don’t want. 

Prayer Thought

You never have to take back what you don’t say. Your mouthmusttake authority over your thoughts!

GOD’S PROMISES ARE VALUABLE

Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. 

Over the years all of us have been promised things that never took place. Politicians, attorneys, doctors, as well as many other professionals have made promises that they could not back up. Many times these people had good intentions, but circumstances prevented them from fulfilling the promise. God is not onlyable to fulfill the promises He makes, but also tells you He will fulfill them.The Bible is full of His promises, He wants you to depend on them, and apply them to the situations you are in. Look for ones that will overcome the problems your are in today. Next, ask Him what His will is for you, because sometimes the timing is not right. Always expect Him to honor His promises in your life. 

Prayer Thought

Focus on God’s promises - not on the problems. For no promise of God can fail to be fulfilled. Luke 1:37- Phillips.

 

Feed The Hungry

-MARK 8:1-9
Key Verse:
"I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat" (Mark 8:2).

From available records, about 13 percent of the world's population is hungry. That is, about 925 million people go undernourished daily, consuming less than the recommended 2, 100 calories a day. Although the world produces enough food to feed all 7 billion people who live in it, those who go hungry either do not have land to grow food or money to purchase it. Therefore, hunger kills more people than AIDS, malaria or tuberculosis put together.

In our text, a crowd came from far and near to the wilderness to hear Christ preach the Word. Having spent three days with Him, they were hungry. Jesus had compassion on them and arranged for their feeding by a miraculous multiplication of bread and fishes, ignoring His disciples' advised to send them away to get food for themselves since they may not have enough to feed them all. Like Christ's disciples, we often see problems and impossibilities when ministering to people. Sometimes, we say in our hearts, and sometimes with our voices, "Send the people away", "There's not enough money", or "There aren't enough teachers for the youth or children programmes; send them away".

All around us in the entire world, there are people who are physically in need - hungry, physically disabled, oppressed, lonely, grieving, scared, etc. Our duty as Christ's followers is to have compassion on them as our Master had. This compassion can be cultivated by simply meditating on their plight. We cannot claim to be Christians when we see the agonies and pains people go through and remain unmoved towards them. Such a stance will amount to walking at cross-purposes with the compassionate deportment of the Saviour.

Thought for the day: Brighten the corner where you are with Christlike compassion.

SEED FAITH GIVING

2 Corinthians 9:6 But this I say: He whosows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he whosows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

If you were to go to the grocery store and try to buy two week’s supply of groceries for a family of six, with only twenty dollars would this be buyingsparingly or bountifully?You would think that this would be very sparingly. If twenty dollarsis considered sparinglyat the grocery store, why do peoplethinkthat theyaresowing bountifullyif they give twenty dollars in a church offer­ing? It is still the same amount of money. In the eyes of God it would be considered planting bountifully if that was all you had,and you had been faithful in tithing.A farmer who plants seed must water it. A person who is directed by the Lord to give into some minis­try, must water his seed as well. Your harvest for what you plant­ed will come as you pray for the ministry you planted into.

A man’s harvest in life depends entirely on what he sows. You get what you say whether you like it or not. Be a giver - be blessed!
